Sit for the full test in one uninterrupted block, with a clock running and no notes open. A mock taken in pieces tells you what you know; a mock taken under exam conditions tells you what you can actually produce on exam day, which is the only number that matters.
Prelims rarely asks what you know outright; it asks which of four statements is defensible. Train yourself to knock out options using constitutional logic, timeline sense, or the absoluteness of words like 'only' and 'never'.
Decide from your mocks how many questions you can attempt while holding accuracy near 70%. Walking into Prelims with a known attempt range removes the single biggest source of last-hour panic.
A news item is only useful when it is anchored to a constitutional provision, a scheme, or a location. Build that link during review and current affairs stops feeling infinite.
The Prelims syllabus is too large to read once and remember. Rotate through your core areas repeatedly, using the dashboard trend chart to spot which subject has decayed since your last pass.
Vacancies, dates, age reckoning and relaxations must be verified in the current UPSC notice.
